508 Guerilla Film Squad

Assemble your squad! Welcome to the GFS where your filming skills are only as good as the crew you work with. Independent film director, Darryl D, will help you imagine, conceptualize, and create a short film, music video, documentary or any style of film you can think up! 

The Guerilla Film Squad will enter into this yeas 48-Hour Film Festival as one of the first all-youth teams to enter. The GFS will also screen their final film at this year's Plazapalooza event at the Civic Plaza.


When: *Filming schedule fluctuates and will inform all students on a week by week basis. The first week of class will be scheduled as follows:

  Monday, June 14 - Friday, June 18 ~ 1-5pm

Where: Warehouse 508 Mack Shack and locations around ABQ.

Camp Rock Star

(PROGRAM IS FULL) 

Calling all singers, rappers, musicians and music lovers alike: Come Rock the house at Warehouse 508 this summer! In 6 weeks you will put together a full show to be performed at Plazapalooza 2010. If you do rock, hip-hop, thrash, or just dream of it this is where you should be this summer! 

When: Tues- 1-4pm / Thurs- 1-4pm / Fri- 2-4pm

Break Science 

(Summer Edition)

Everything around us can be broken down to a science. B-Boy NatoRock is here at 508 every Wednesday to show you the internal and external mechanics of breakdancing.

Break Science is a workshop open to beginners and advanced dancers. We will show you how to stretch properly, use energy efficiently, and provide a b-boy/b-girl nutrition system to be a healthier dancer and prevent injury. Whether you got the skills to get down or not, Break Science will give you the tools to build those skills and be the next b-boy/b-girl on the scene!

Urban & Funk Fusion Dance

*Begins Tuesday, June 22nd*

Girls got the funk! Urban and Funk dance originated in Los Angeles and New York during the Funk and Soul era in the early 60’s and during the 80's deep in the Bronx. 

The Funk dance style includes: Boogaloo, Popping, Locking, Wacking and Vogueing.  

Urban dance style includes: Top-Rocking, House dancing, and Urban Jazz Choreography. 

Santa Fe native, Bgirl Sassy, will teach you how to get down and fuse all of these styles together.

Youth Yoga 

(Program Full)

The word yoga, first recorded in approximately 4000 BCE, is Sanskrit for “union.” Yoga builds strength, flexibility and balance, and along the way, an increasing sense of calm and inner peace. Yoga is a fun way to stay healthy and to be with others in a non-competitive group with a focus on yourself. Keep your mind sharp and your body in shape with our youth yoga program!

Brazilian Capoeira & Dance 

Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art which incorporates unique dance, martial arts, and music. This program is designed to teach incredible control, coordination and rhythm while working with a partner. Begin with training specific combinations for kicks and defense while moving diligently in and away from your partner, then partners pair up and practice the combos together. Extreme Sports Photography


An 8 week class focusing on action sports. 4 shooting weeks and 4 post production weeks. 4 unique locations TBA. Concentrate on image capturing and efficient workflow. Good prep for the aspiring photographer.

H.O.P.E Artist Mural Project 

Are you tired of seeing blank walls around Albuquerque? Well so are we! Come get down on a youth-inspired mural designed and directed by the amazing local artist, Albert Rosales. The mural will showcase urban dance, street art, and YOUth using technology to paint their dreams into reality. HOPE to see you there!

Tribal Belly Dancing

Learn to Belly Dance and more through journaling and talking circles.
Belly Dance allows women of all ages to discover and appreciate their individual beauty. We work on developing flexibility and learning how to move muscles often ignored in day-to-day living.

Summer Circus Arts

(Program is full) 

You don't have to run away from home to join the circus! Though, this is no ordinary sideshow program. Training in  Aerial Arts, Juggling, Tight-rope, and performance Choreography under one of the most qualified circus arts instructors in the country, Rosalinda Rojas.  

When: Mon-Wed / 9am-NOON

Summer Programs

Beginning Sunday June 20



Beginner Skate Lessons

Students will learn about safety gear, skateboard parts, set up, and maintenance. Participants will learn how to correctly and safely ride their board, and a few basic tricks such as the ollie, dropping in, rock to fakie, shove its, manuals, and manuals.

“Sponsor Me” Video Workshop

Students will learn what a sponsor looks for in a video. Participants will learn how to use a video camera, edit their own footage, and make their very own “sponsor
me” video that they can shop around to potential sponsors. All equipment is provided at no cost to the students.

Skate Obstacle Construction

Participants will learn how to safely use the tools necessary for basic skateboard obstacle construction. Participants will learn the basic geometry needed to safely design these obstacles. Participants will design a skate obstacle and build it during
the remainder of the course adding it for use in the Warehouse 508 Skate Park.
