Youth micro-marketing for the future

Create. Innovate. Elevate. Micro-marketing is the key to a successful organization. Marketing company Simply Design Inc. will be taking on 20 students for the marketing opportunity of a lifetime.

Youth Creative Crew (YCC)

The YCC is the brain and brawn of Warehouse 508. "We meet, plan, and make things happen," says YCC leader Khalid Binsunni. If your looking for a way to get involved in your community or would like to bring some fresh new ideas to the table, crew up with the Youth Creative Crew!

Hype 508 

(Digital & Print magazine

Get your modern weapons locked and loaded—and learn how to use them right—during Hype 508’s merging of modern journalism and design. Interview your favorite artists and musicians, review CDs, dig up the news and write for an audience in this youth-directed publicatoin. 

Using the net and DIY-style publication as our means of distribution, we will blog and create digital packages and put out a monthly zine. Build a collection of clips that will help you apply to college or for internships in the publishing world. With instruction from the Alibi's managing editor and news editor, Marisa Demarco, and artist/designer  Juli Cobb, you'll be slinging stories in no time!

508 Studio: Software & equipment training

This class is a prerequisite to using the 508 music studio for any reason. We will cover the basics of using Ableton Live and Logic for producing tracks and recording in the studio. You will also learn how to properly use all the equipment and make sure that all studio gear is treated and handled with care. It will be MANDATORY for any student who wants to record, produce tracks or rehearse to complete this class before they will be given access to the 508 studio.

When: Monthly ~ SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13th

508 Sound School

Want to learn the skills that could one day lead to a career in the music industry? 508 Sound School is a program that will teach you the basics to running sound and lights for bands and eventually get paid to be a 508 sound-tech! Sound School is a 5-hour express lesson in running sound and lights. By the end of the lesson, you will have the confidence and knowledge to run a concert at Warehouse 508.

Break Science

Everything around us can be broken down to a science. B-Boy NatoRock is here at 508 every Wednesday to show you the internal and external mechanics of breakdancing.

Break Science is a workshop open to beginners and advanced dancers. We will show you how to stretch properly, use energy efficiently, and provide a b-boy/b-girl nutrition system to be a healthier dancer and prevent injury. Whether you got the skills to get down or not, Break Science will give you the tools to build those skills and be the next b-boy/b-girl on the scene!


When: Wednesdays ~ 4-6pm

Thirsty For Breaks

Breakdancers have open gym too! The 508 dance floor is open to bboys and bgirls of all skill levels. Show up! Donations are encouraged to keep this program free.

Duke City Youth Poetry Collective

The Duke City Youth Poetry Collective (DCYPC) is 508’s resident performance/spoken word collective. Started in 2008 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the DCYPC now hosts four monthly events at 508 -- a poetry & music open-mic, a writing workshop, a writing intensive that often features national touring poets, and Slam Aztlan, the only regular under-21 poetry slam in the state. The DCYPC also runs the ABQ Unidos youth poetry slam team, which recently finished third at the international Brave New Voices youth slam in Los Angeles.

 508 Intro to Photography

Are you ready to learn the essential skills for proper operation and manipulation of digital photography?

There will be NO HOMEWORK assigned in this class. 508 Photography instructors want to help you build a solid foundation of photography skills and basic knowledge so you can catch that epic shot that only happens once a lifetime! There are two parts to this class; skills session & open lab. You will be given the opportunity to apply the skills you learn in class at the open photo lab after the first part of each class.

*If you are not a beginner to the world of photography, you can just show up to the open lab, plan and shoot with other up-and-coming photographers.

When: Wednesdays ~ 4-5pm/skills session 5-7pm/open lab

508 Mural Program

Are you a local artist and want to leave a piece of you forever on the walls of Warehouse 508? The 508 mural program is the avenue just for that dream! Take your art out of hobby and get paid to get up!

-If you are under 21, we will pair you up with a seasoned local artist similar to your style/preference.

-Seasoned local artist? Teach your skills to the youth! Contact 508 and ask how you can become a lead mentor artist.

Rock Star 101 ‘Takin it to the Stage’

Are you ready to get a chance to get your band or music project to the next level! During the fall semester we will focus on getting your project ready to rock the stage. We will work on performance skills (stage presence, Mic techniques, instrument and vocal skills, song choices, and whatever else you need to be fantastic on stage!) This class will finish with a public performance held at Warehouse 508 in December. (the spring semester (Takin it to the Studio!) will focus on producing and recording a CD of original material to be developed over the school year that will finish with a CD release party in May).

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays ~ 4-5:30pm
